How long does the process take before I receive my lump sum payment?
Our goal is to complete the process and get you paid within 30-60 days after our initial meeting. We will work with you to collect all required information, answer your questions, present you with an offer, and get all necessary paperwork processed and filed to get you funded as soon as possible.
Why should I be interested in Sustainable Investors’ program?
There are many benefits to our program. Ultimately, our program will allow you the opportunity to cash out on the smaller annual payments you receive from the project owner with a larger upfront payment from Sustainable Investors. A larger payment will be more impactful and can be used in a way that best fits your individual, family, or business needs and goals.
How will a lump sum payment impact my taxes?
The payments you’re currently receiving for your annual land lease and/or easement payments are likely being taxed as ordinary income. Taking a lump sum payment could make you eligible for the lower capital gains tax rate or qualify you for a 1031 (like-kind) Exchange. Every financial situation is different so we encourage you to consult with your tax professional to determine your tax implications and the best options for you.
Is Sustainable Investors interested in signing an easement on my property for project development?
Sustainable Investors is not a project developer. We are primarily interested in only operating projects at this time. We will also consider projects that are in late stage development that are nearing completion. Please contact us with any specific questions.
How much will Sustainable Investors pay me for my lease or easement agreement?
The payment terms of every agreement varies – royalty payments, acreage payments, annual escalators, etc. As such, we do not have a standard payment model and will evaluate the specific terms of your agreement and make you a competitive offer.
Does this program impact the ownership of my land?
Not at all. The ownership of your land will remain the same upon signing an agreement with Sustainable Investors.
What if I decide to sell my land?
You can sell your land at your leisure. The agreement with Sustainable Investors will remain intact and its obligations will remain with the land. Sustainable Investors will continue to receive the annual payments during the specific term of the agreement. Similar to your existing lease/easement, the new owner should be made aware of your agreement with Sustainable Investors and a memorandum of the agreement will be recorded at the county.
How does Sustainable Investors’ program impact the agreement I have in place with the project owner?
The terms and obligations to the project owner through the existing lease/easement agreement are not changed after signing an agreement with Sustainable Investors.
Is Sustainable Investors only interested in wind and solar?
Our main focus at this time is utility-scale wind and solar projects. If you have an existing lease or easement involving another industry segment where you receive annual payments (oil, gas, transmission lines, pipelines, cell towers, etc.), please contact us to discuss potential options.
